Public Health asks voters and candidates to consider health during the 2026 municipal election

Healthy communities start with informed choices.

Municipal decisions shape our daily life. They influence where people live, whether they can afford basic needs, how they move around, and whether they have access to public spaces and supports close to home. These conditions affect our health and well-being.

This election period, Public Health Sudbury & Districts is highlighting three areas where municipal leadership can make a difference:

Housing and community design
Income and affordability
Substance use prevention

As of this month, Public Health has been working for 70 years alongside municipalities and community partners to support healthier communities. While health needs and priorities have changed over time, the importance of collaboration and community action remains constant. When casting a ballot, residents can help shape communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
