Public Health Sudbury and Districts
Update: Boil water advisory remains in effect. First set of water samples received.

The boil water advisory issued on May 6 remains in effect for all residents of Sudbury, New Sudbury, and Falconbridge, as well as both sides of O’Neil Drive West and the area between Maley Drive and O’Neil Drive West.

At 6 p.m., Public Health Sudbury & Districts received the first set of follow-up test results from samples collected the evening of Wednesday, May 6, from both the David Street Water Treatment Plant distribution system and the Falconbridge Water Treatment Plant. These samples were negative for both total coliforms and E. coli and showed no evidence of bacterial growth.

To ensure the water is safe, and before the boil water advisory can be lifted, two sets of negative samples are required, collected at least 24 hours apart from each affected site. This interval ensures that results are independent and representative of overall water system function. Repeat testing also confirms that water quality remains stable over time rather than reflecting a temporary improvement.

The second set of samples were taken this evening, Thursday, May 7. Public Health expects to receive those results tomorrow evening, Friday, May 8, and will share an update at that time.

Pending further information, residents should continue to follow Public Health guidance.
